Check state registration and youth rules
New Mexico nonresident requirements depend on whether your home state has an OHV registration or user-fee program. Review the current state guidance instead of assuming that an entry payment covers your machine.

New Mexico nonresident permit prices
Where a New Mexico nonresident OHV permit is required, the state lists $18 for 90 days or $48 for two years. Visitors with proof of valid OHV registration can qualify for the published exemption. The separate $7 paved-road-use permit does not make every public road open to an OHV.

Under-18 preparation
New Mexico requires young OHV riders to meet helmet, eye-protection and safety-training requirements, with additional age, machine-size and adult-supervision rules. Bring the safety-training certificate and read the age-specific state guidance before assigning a machine. An adult’s permission alone does not replace those requirements.
