Water, soft sand and your parking area
Water is entirely your responsibility here. Leave the road vehicle on established surfaces and use a sand-capable machine for dune travel. Pick the Bowl, middle or Cottonwood arrival reference before the group separates.

A separated rider needs a simple plan
Use the Bowl, middle or Cottonwood parking area as the regroup point, set an expected return and decide who acts if someone is late. Stop in a safe position before looking at a phone. A compass points toward camp; it does not show a safe line through soft sand.
Weather can end the outing
BLM supplies no potable water, so carry water on every outing and shorten rides on hot days. If thunder is audible, seek a substantial building or an enclosed metal-topped vehicle.
