ENTRY PASS & VEHICLE PAPERWORK

Two checks before you ride

Your vehicle entry pass and your riding-machine paperwork serve different purposes.

The Dumont entry pass

The pass applies to the primary vehicle arriving at Dumont, such as the tow vehicle or motorhome. Recreation.gov requires a printed pass with its QR code visible on the dashboard. Check its instructions for an open vehicle or motorcycle.

Match the pass to your exact dates

BLM lists weekly passes at $30 without holidays and $40 with holidays, and season passes at $90 / $120. The published season runs October 1 to September 30. Recreation.gov’s descriptive text still shows an older holiday calendar. Confirm your dates and final coverage before paying.

California OHV requirements

California’s nonresident rules depend on your home-state registration and reciprocity. A title is not registration. Arizona street-licensed OHVs have a specific California permit requirement. Use the state’s current guidance for each machine rather than treating a Dumont pass as riding authorization.

Keep the paperwork with the plan

Save receipts, print what is required, and check the plate and dates before packing. The trip planner records your checklist; it does not issue or validate a permit.
