Camp and equipment essentials
BLM lists a 15 mph limit within 50 feet of campsites, animals or pedestrians, approved mufflers and spark arresters, leashed pets, and prohibitions on shooting, glass containers, fireworks and firewood with nails or screws.
Flag guidance needs a current check
The 2019 BLM brochure says six feet off the ground. Recreation.gov instead specifies an eight-foot mast with a six-by-twelve-inch red or orange flag near its top. These published sources conflict. Confirm the current enforceable specification with BLM Barstow before your trip; do not rely on the older six-foot wording.
